Smart Bus Era Begins in Istanbul

smart-bus Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Kadir Topbaş announced that 100 new buses joined the fleet of IETT (Istanbul Bus Operator).

Topbaş at the ceremony said that a period of smart bus started and said, "Our citizens have been able to charge mobile phones, as well as Internet access will be available on buses.

Topbaş added that passengers will be able to enjoy wireless Internet for free.

The new eco-friendly smart buses will operate on the European side of Istanbul.

Topbaş said that about 3 thousand buses are operating in Istanbul today and added that they will renew some of those buses so that the fleet will be modernized and offer a high quality service to Istanbulities as well as tourists visiting the city.

Topbaş stated that the start of metro services in Istanbul means a turning point for the city’s transportation. By 2016, Istanbul will have 7 million daily passengers on rail system alone and 11 million by 2019.
