Dedeman Group Supports
Future of Mining & Tourism Industry
The Mehmet Kemal Dedeman Research & Development Project Contest Award Ceremony is organized at Dedeman Hotel Istanbul.
The project contest is organizing every year in the memory of Mehmet Kemal Dedeman, the establisher of Dedeman Group, in order to support the development of mining and tourism sectors in our country.
Before presenting awards, both CEO of Dedeman Holding; Murat Dedeman and President of Dedeman Holding Advisory Board Nazire Dedeman made a welcome speech to all guests representing mining and tourism industries.
This year, there were no First Prize winners but there were two Second Prize winners and one project awarded as the third best project. Therefore the difference at money award for the first prize is solved by giving scholarship to two students at all 14 universities that have mining courses.
On the other hand, Mümtaz Peker, received First Prize in Tourism with his project titled “Social organization for collective pioneer action in health tourism”.
Pinar Yalçin received Second Prize with her project; “Capacity and Best Location for Health Tourism to be developed according to geothermal resources in Eskisehir ”.
Peyman Ozan received Third Prize with her project “Work Plan of An International psychiatry hospital that will use positive science together with music therapy”.

Hilton Plans 25 New Hotels in Turkey
The Hilton Hotels Corporation has decided to speed up their investments in Turkey . Didier Martin, President of East Europe and Turkey Operations said that they have plans to open 25 new hotels in Turkey under the Hilton Garden Inn and Hampton by Hilton brands.
 HHC, a member of Hilton International since a year now, plans to speed up their investments worldwide as well as in Turkey.
Hilton Istanbul and Hilton ParkSA General Manager Andrew Jacobs commented to Turkish Daily News; “We have a very strong presence in Turkey and now with the integration of HHC with Hilton International, we have a very strong presence in Istanbul .
At present HHC has 775 hotels, which translates as 110,000 rooms worldwide.

TAV Equities on Stock Exchange Market
Investors began trading equities of Tepe-Akfen-Vie (TAV) Airports Holdings Corp. on the Istanbul Stock Exchange (IMKB) National Market on February 23.
 The chairman of the board of directors of TAV, Hamdi Akin, said: "the record amount of $5 billion for the public offer by foreign investors is a confirmation of trust in Turkey ."
TAV is a joint venture company TEPE and AKFEN Construction, promoting and conducting new business in airport construction, financing, passenger terminal operations and related consulting services on an international basis.

Turkish Airlines and Jeppesen Sign Agreement
for Carmen Crew Pairing and Carmen Crew Rostering
The fast-growing Turkish Airlines has signed a long-term agreement with Jeppesen for two crew management products - Carmen Crew Pairing and Carmen Crew Rostering. The airline has already successfully operated with crew pairings optimized by Jeppesen since June 2006.
 According to Dr. Temel Kotil, president and CEO of Turkish Airlines, the new solutions will support the airline during a period of strong growth and bring significant cost savings that will increase its competitiveness. "We have achieved a substantial amount of savings by operating pairings from Jeppesen's Service Bureau. Now we can speed up the planning process and reduce the operating cost even further. In addition, the powerful and easy-to-use simulation capabilities will help us maintain the day-to-day efficiency of the operation. We have already used the flexibility of the system to test, and implement, our crew pairing rules."

The First IMO Certificate Given Was Taken By ZED Tourism
IMO (International Maritime Organization) localized to United Nations, certificated ZED Tourism, in consideration of their successful organization in 82 nd Maritime Safety Committee Meeting. The certificate given by the Greek General Secretary of IMO, Efthimios Mitropoulos, has the eligibility of recommendation by the UN and its dependent establishments.
IMO, held its 82nd Maritime Safety Committee Meeting in Polat renaissance Hotel, Istanbul, between 28th November – 8th December 2007. The host for the meeting was Turkish Republic Prime Ministry Undersecretary of Marine. ZED Tourism was favored with a certificate for its fruitful organization, as implementing the organization of the meeting continued for 8 days and has the participant of 1100 delegates.
On 8th December, the last day of the meeting, in the ceremony, Secretary General of IMO Mitropoulos, with the presence of IMO Conference Coordinator Alfredo Garofalo, introduced the certificate which has the eligibility of recommendation by the UN and its dependent establishments, to Safa Ünal, General Coordinator of ZED.
 Mitropoulos, who gave a speech during the certificate ceremony, as pointing out the success of the meeting, claims that they consecrate and impressed by the high quality professionalism of ZED. Mitropoulos determined that IMO organizes total 27 weeks period meetings whole around the world, throughout the year and have a permanent staff respective to this issue, however this is the first time they have that much high quality service and therefore deem to give the certificate to ZED Tourism appropriate.
The certificate has the eligibility of being the first in IMO history.

The 12th World Public Health Congress Will Take Place In Istanbul
The city of Istanbul, meeting point of the civilizations and continents, will host another important international event in between 27 April & 01 May 2009, namely the “12th World Public Health Congress”, of which the international convening organization is the World Federation of Public Health Associations (WFPHA). This periodic event, which is taking place in every three years is a scientific conference for public health professionals from around the world and is traditionally hosted by a WFPHA member.
The Public Health Congresses brings together federal, state, and local health officials, hospital and health system administrators and private sector executives in an exclusive networking environment designed to promote collaboration and partnerships to improve preparedness, prevention and infectious disease control, bringing crucial public health issues to the forefront of the global agenda.
The International Congress will be hosted in Turkey by the Turkish Public Health Association, which is also one of the members of the WFPHA. The organization of this world-wide congress will be co-coordinated and implemented by one of the renowned local Professional Congress Organizers (PCOs), ZED Event Management and Consultancy .
