Dedeman To Open A Hotel In Latvia
Dedeman Hotels & Resorts International will open a new property in Latvia. The 500-room resort will be named Resort Dedeman Jurmala Latvia and will situated approximately 20 kilometers away from Latvian capital of Riga, and 10 kilometers from the airport.
The Resort Dedeman Jurmala Latvia is scheduled to open in 2007.
The Resort Dedeman Jurmala Latvia, to be constructed on the shores of Baltic Sea, will have 500 rooms, a casino, night club, ice skating rink, tennis courts, two restaurants, a cafe, a ball room, a concert hall and conference halls.
The tourism legacy of Dedeman Society has started with the opening of the Hotel Dedeman Ankara in 1966. Swissôtel The Bosphorus Hosted Oracle Partner Network Days
Istanbul hosted the world's largest enterprise software company Oracle's executives for Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN) Days at Swissotel, The Bosphorus on March 29th.
A statement released by Oracle said that OPN Days meeting held in Istanbul for the first time, and Oracle experts, partners and representatives from 20 countries discussed potential business opportunities in Turkey during the meeting of OPN Days.
The meeting was attended by over 5,000 partners last year. Istanbul was chosen as the location because, as they put, the city is "the shining star of the European informatics market".
The meeting focused on three main topics: Oracle Business Partners' Structure, System Integrators and Independent Software Developers.

TAV To Open Ankara Esenboga New Airport Terminal on Oct. 29
New Ankara Esenboga Airport terminal complex, which is built under the built-operate-transfer model by TAV, will be opened on Oct. 29, 2006. The new terminal, which would be equipped by maximum security systems, will be monitored by totally 460 cameras, which are fix in 400 points and active in 60 points. In the new terminal, interactive fire sense system, which will provide control in 5 thousand points, would be established.
TAV Project Director Nuray Demirer said that the new domestic and international terminals, which are planned to be completed on Oct. 29, would be equipped by modern and technical equipment in accordance with Ankara. Pointing out that current Esenboga Airport had 2 million passenger capacity, Demirer said that with the new terminals the passenger capacity would be increased to 10 million.
Nuray Demirer said that Esenboga Havalimani new domestic-international terminal and multiple-storey park was a big project, adding that the direct flights to Ankara would increase within the project, which is an example of Atatürk Airport Terminal.
Demirer stated that the new terminal, which would be built on a field of 183 thousand meter squares, would be an airport having the world standards technically and added, “We aimed a bright, fresh, comfortable, and modern construction.” Stressing that the winter conditions slowed down the construction activities, Demirer added, “Our work is accelerated with the air getting warm. The project will be completed as scheduled.”

TAV Wins $805 Million Tender In Qatar
Turkish airport operator Tepe Afken Ventures (TAV) and Japan 's Taisei consortium won the tender for the biggest airport project of the Middle East to build a terminal at Doha Airport .
With an $805 million proposal, TAV in cooperation with its Japanese partner Taise won the main terminal building tender, the biggest project from among 18 proposed in Qatar 's capital Doha .
TAV announced construction of the main terminal building will start within a few months. The building will be a prestigious symbol for Qatar . The project is expected to take 26 months and the terminal will have capacity for 12 million passengers a year.
This project is the fourth that TAV has undertaken abroad.
TAV previously realized airport construction and enterprise projects in Cairo , Tbilisi , Batumi , and Dubai .
As part of the project, conducted by US contractor giant Bechtel, the winning company will construct a terminal building approximately 220,000 square meters.
TAV won a landmark deal last June to operate Istanbul Airport 's domestic and international terminals for 15-1/2 years for USD$3 billion. TAV also secured the right to build and operate Ankara Airport for EUR189 million (USD$226.3 million) from autumn 2006 and is a partner in a similar project in Izmir , Turkey 's third largest city.
In Egypt it is building Cairo Airport for USD$347 million and it is also working on part of Dubai Airport under separate deals.

Turkish Airlines Ranked Second In Europe
The Turkish Airlines (THY) ranked second following the Spanish Spanair among the national airlines in Europe as regards to the number of passengers last year. According to the European Airlines Union (AHB) data, while THY carried a total of 13,694,000 passengers with an increase of 20.4 percent in 2005, Spanair, which competed in the low-cost airline category, had a growth rate of 21.4 percent.
Among 30 AHB member-airlines, there was an increase of 17.7 percent in the number of flights by the Iceland Airlines, which increased its traffic by 18.5 percent last year. The THY ranked third concerning the capacity increase.
While the THY raised its capacity by 14 percent in 2005, the Czech Airlines had a growth rate of 15.1 percent and Spanair 14.9 percent. The passenger load factor of the THY last year was 72.6 percent, which was lower than the average (76 percent) among the European airlines.
The companies which operated in the most productive way in this field were KLM Airlines with a rate of 83.5 percent, Air France with a rate of 78.8 percent and the German Lufthansa with a rate of 78.5 percent.
