Turkish Airlines Launched Direct flights to Bologna

Turkish Airlines launched new flights between Istanbul Ataturk and Bologna, Italy. The daily service started on Monday March 1st, 2010.
With the start of Bologna flights Turkish Airlines, a Star Alliance member, offers a network of over 157 destinations and the airline flies to more than 120 international destinations worldwide.

The planned schedule will be as follows;

Turkish Airlines on Top of Bangkok Skyline

Turkey's national airline carrier, Turkish Airlines enriched the skyline of Bangkok by placing its advertisement on top of Thailand's tallest tower. The 304-meter "Baiyoke Tower" in Bangkok, one of the world's highest buildings, will carry Turkish Airlines' (THY) advertisements until August 2010.

Commenting on the company's new advertising method, THY's Bangkok Director Adnan Aykac said the ads showed that THY had become a global brand.

"This has been a truly global study in such a global city. We have received a very positive feedback already," Aykac said.

Within the scope of its effective promotion campaign, THY had also signed sponsor agreements with English football club Manchester United and Spanish team FC Barcelona at the beginning of 2010.

Turkish Airlines signed sponsorship contract with
Maroussi Basketball Club

Turkish Airlines announced that it signed one and a half year long partnership deal with Greek professional basketball club.

Within the framework of extending its support to sports activities, Turkish Airlines has finalized the sponsorship agreement with Maroussi BC, one of the most successful basketball clubs of Greece. The cooperation is declared through a joint conference inaugural held in Athens.

Turkish Ambassador at Athens, Mr. Mehmet Hasan Göğüş has honoured the ceremony with his participation.

Turkish Airlines’ Executive Vice President Faruk Çizmecioğlu stated in his speech that, “Turkish Airlines has always had a great affinity with sports and now it is very happy to have such a sponsorship deal with Greece’s one of the most popular and dynamic basketball team. By wish a successful season to Maroussi Basketball Club with the best of luck, I also would like to express my sincere belief on this sponsorship agreement’s positive contribution to relations between Turkey and Greece.”

Maroussi B.C. is a Greek professional basketball club that is based in Maroussi, Athens, Greece. The club is considered the third most successful basketball club in Greece during the 2000s decade. The basketball team is currently on the 3th place in Greece and has a second place in Euroleague after Barcelona.


According to the one and a half year sponsorship contract, all the advertising materials and logos of Turkish Airlines will be displayed on the internal screens of all locations of the team.

According to the agreement Turkish Airlines also will hold the front official T-shirt advertisement and the front official warm-up T-shirt advertisement of the team same as taking place on the banners and logos on Maroussi Basketball Club’s official web site.

Turkish Airlines operate three daily flights between Istanbul and Athens.

Turkish Airlines acquires CAE 7000 Series Boeing 777-300ER Full Flight Simulator

Turkish Airlines, a member of Star Alliance, announced that it has purchased a 7000 Series Full Flight Simulator (FFS) representing the Boeing 777-300ER aircraft from CAE.

The Boeing 777-300ER FFS will be delivered to the Turkish Airlines Flight Training Centre in 2010, along with a CAE SimfinityTM Integrated Procedures Trainer (IPT) for the Boeing 737NG. The contract renews a relationship between Turkish Airlines and CAE which began in 1997.

Dr. Temel Kotil, CEO and Member of Board of Turkish Airlines said there will be more simulator orders to bring Turkish Airlines Flight Training Facility a global brand. CAE's early delivery and competitive offer for such state of the art device was the key factor for selecting CAE as B777-300ER Simulator supplier.

The Boeing 777-300ER FFS is expected to be qualified to JAR Level D, the highest standard for full-flight simulators, by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) of Turkey and other National Aviation Authorities.
