ICOC and ICVB published International Congress Statistics Booklet

icvb-icca-report2010Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ICOC) and Istanbul Convention & Visitors Bureau (ICVB) published an international congress statistics booklet for the first time.

The international congress statistics are prepared annually by International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) that has its headquarters in the Netherlands. The ICCA statistics report, which is published in English, covers analysis of meetings industry and presents world congress country and city listing.

After receiving acceptance from ICCA, ICOC and ICVB translated “Non Members” version of the statistical study into Turkish language and published as a booklet for the first time. “We believe it will shed light on studies of tourism industry professionals, national organizations & associations, and students as well” said ICOC and ICVB Chairman Dr. Murat Yalçıntaş

Moreover, the booklet includes additional statistical information about Istanbul and Turkey prepared by ICVB in 2010. The special report includes comparison of Istanbul with world’s leading congress cities.

A total of 9120 congresses are organized in the world in 2010. Istanbul by hosting 109 congresses in 2010, ranked world’s 7th and Europe’s 6th top city in the industry. Turkey is listed 20th with a total of 160 congresses.

ICCA publishes World Congress Statistics annually on June. The 2011 report will be published on June 2012.
