Istanbul To Host Latino Dance World Championships
ICVB is proud to announce that Istanbul will host International Dance Organization (IDO) Latino Show and Salsa World Championships. Istanbul will also host the Presidium and Annual General Meetings of IDO next year.
ICVB coordinately worked with its member DMC; VIP Mice to bring the event and competed with Tallinn, and Prague for the congress organization and with Milan, and Innsbruck for the competition. ICVB would like to thank Istanbul Governorship and Istanbul Culture and Tourism Directorate for their support to bring these two important events to Istanbul.
The Latino Dance World Championships will bring approximately 1500 of the world’s best dance couples to Istanbul to partake in this mega event. Salsa, merengue, jitterbug, bachata, but also disco hustle, fox, swing and blues will be the dance categories in the World Championship.
IDO was founded 1981 in Florence, and has today representatives all over the world. The organization holds European and World Championships for professional and amateur dancers in all dance categories.

TUGEV-ICVB Visit To Ankara
Tourism Development and Education Foundation ( TUGEV) Board headed by Chairman of Istanbul Chamber of Commerce ( ITO) and President of TUGEV Board Dr. Murat Yalçıntaş paid a visit to the Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey Ertuğrul Günay on August 7th. President Dr. Yalçıntaş presented Minister the projects of TUGEV to further develop Istanbul’s tourism promotion and marketing and to strengthen the structure of ICVB and hence convention business in Turkey. Dr. Yalçıntaş also said that Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) will continue to support ICVB and activities to increase Istanbul’s tourism potential.
The delegation of TUGEV and ITO included Vice President of TUGEV and President of ICVB Executive Committee Yilmaz Tecmen, Deputy Governor of Istanbul and ICVB Executive Board Member Cumhur Güven Taşbaşı, TUGEV Board Member Savaş Gürsel, ITO General Secretariat and ICVB Executive Board Member Dr. Cengiz Ersun, ITO Principle Clerk Ali Yavuz Yiğit, TUGEV General Secretariat Dr. Özen Dallı, ICVB General Manager Handan Boyce, and ICVB Sales and Marketing Director Elif Balcı Fisunoğlu.

Minister of Culture and Tourism Ertuğrul Günay expressed Ministry’s full support to the development of convention industry in Turkey and TUGEV-ICVB’ s all related activities and projects.

Istanbul Catches Eyes of ASEAN Travellers
ICVB attended NATAS Holidays 2008 travel fair which took place between1st and 3rd of August 2008 at Singapore Expo Halls 4 and 5. Organized twice a year, on March and August, in Singapore, NATAS Holidays is the region’s biggest tourism and travel event and reached total of 65,583 visitors this year which indicated a 10% increase compared to last year.
Since 2006 Istanbul Destination exhibits at NATAS with the initiative and support of Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO). ICVB, authorized by ITO, organizes the Istanbul Destination booth at the show and promotes Istanbul to the visitors who visit the show to buy their holiday packages. During two days event, visitors to the Istanbul Stand have been given information about Istanbul, promotional materials distributed and traditional Turkish delights, regional drinks and snacks offered by ICVB team. As it has been noted by Elif Fisunoglu, Director of Sales & Marketing of ICVB who attended the show, the interest and demand to Istanbul is constantly increasing within the region.
